Eine kleine Historie des Kunst- und Graphik-Antiquariats:

In den späten 1940er Jahren veranstaltete mein Großvater Anton Düssel seine erste Buch- und Grafik-Auktion in Düsseldorf. Später, bis in die frühen 1980er Jahre, führte er erfolgreich sein Antiquariat in Köln. Mein Vater, Karl Düssel, begann seine Karriere im Antiquariatswesen in den 1980er Jahren in Berlin. Vom Flohmarkthändler entwickelte er sich Schritt für Schritt zum angesehenen Antiquar am Kurfürstendamm und später am Gendarmenmarkt, wo er unter dem Namen „Stiche Düssel am Gendarmenmarkt“ ein renommiertes Antiquariat führte. Nach dem Tod meines Vaters wurde das gemeinsam von uns Brüdern geführte Antiquariat am Gendarmenmarkt nach 16 Jahren der Erbengemeinschaft geschlossen. Es war Zeit, einen neuen Weg zu gehen und etwas Eigenes aufzubauen. Heute, in der Gipsstraße 4, setzt das Kunst- und Graphik-Antiquariat diese Tradition fort.

Meine Sammlungen von alten Stadtansichten, Landkarten, architektonischen, botanischen und anderen dekorativen Graphiken, gepaart mit Kunst der Moderne und Lithografien u. a. von Chagall, Braque, Miró, Picasso und Zille, werden auf meiner neuen Homepage https://www.graphik-antiquariat.com/ bis Ende 2026 synchronisiert sein. Es werden um die 8.000 Graphiken sein.

A short history of the art and graphic antiquarian shop:

In the late 1940s, my grandfather Anton Düssel held his first book and graphic art auction in Düsseldorf. Later, until the early 1980s, he successfully ran his antiquarian bookshop in Cologne. My father, Karl Düssel, began his career in the antiquarian book trade in Berlin in the 1980s. Starting out as a flea market dealer, he gradually developed into a respected antiquarian graphik-seller on Kurfürstendamm and later on Gendarmenmarkt, where he ran a renowned antiquarian graphikshop under the name ‘Stiche Düssel am Gendarmenmarkt’. After my father's death, the Antiquariat am Gendarmenmarkt, which we brothers ran together, was closed after 16 years of joint ownership. It was time to strike out on a new path and build something of our own. Today, at Gipsstraße 4, the art- and graphik-antiquariat continues this tradition.

My collections of old cityscapes, maps, architectural, botanical and other decorative prints, paired with modern art and lithographs by Chagall, Braque, Miró, Picasso and Zille, among others, will be synchronised on my new website
